YouthWorks Takes One PLUS ONE Door-to-Door

By now, many residents in Baltimore City have heard that beginning Monday, July 13 there will be a big change in how trash and recycling will be collected, and that change is called "One PLUS ONE." But, we’re not taking any chances, so Mayor Dixon’s YouthWorks students are taking that message door-to-door in some of our most litter-challenged communities.

Brooklyn and Curtis Bay Coalition Bringing Home “Green”

The Brooklyn and Curtis Bay Coalition has been beating the "Cleaner Greener Baltimore" drum ever since the initiative was launched! To date, they have sold more than 600 recycle bins and will be selling bins throughout the summer. "Our mission is to stabilize and improve our communities," says Carol Eshelman, Executive Director for the Coalition. "We embraced cleaning up the environment long ago as it is the only way to have a sustainable community."

Friends of Patterson Park Continues to Lead the Way

The Friends of Patterson Park has been around since 1998 blazing a trail of incomparable achievements in urban park management. Teamwork is the name of the game and it starts with ongoing education of the community about urban environmental concerns and how those concerns relate to park maintenance and community involvement. From the Pagoda to the Boat Lake , from the Ice-skating rink to the miles of walking paths, keeping Patterson Park clean and green is an ongoing challenge that has met its match with the Friends of Patterson Park.

Vernon Smith, Tony Dinisio and Paula Keys Win Mayor’s Awards for Cityscape Greening Program

The Department of Public Works ( DPW ) and the Department of General Services (DGS ) are committed to a Cleaner Greener Baltimore. Earlier this year, Mayor Sheila Dixon recognized three employees for their hard work in successfully greening exterior spaces at city-owned buildings. Vernon Smith, DGS Chief of Facilities Maintenance, Tony Dinisio, DGS Building Repair Supervisor, and Paula Keys, DPW Grounds Maintenance Supervisor at the Montebello Treatment Plant, were given the awards during a City Hall ceremony.
