We can all agree that it’s pretty nice to set out our household garbage in the morning and know that it will be gone by the end of the day. We never have to think about our trash again. But, please, in this season of thanks, let’s all take some time to think about and thank our garbage collection crews. Just this past month Mayor Dixon joined Waste Management in doing just that. On October 27, the Mayor joined officials from Waste Management’s Wheelabrator Waste to Energy Facility here in Baltimore, to show our appreciation for all of the men and women who serve our city and the region. Proper waste management is one of the most important services a City provides to its citizens. It’s not just about convenient removal of all that stuff you don’t want anymore. Proper waste removal is critical to our community health, safety and quality of life. Garbage removal is a vital service; it’s hard work and it’s performed every day in every kind of weather. So, take a moment this month and thank the men and women who provide waste collection service to your home every week. For more information about recycling and mixed refuse pickup go to
