Join the Baltimore Public Works Museum for Heavy Metal: Big Truck Day on October 3
Museum for Heavy Metal: Big Truck Day on Saturday, October 3, 2009. The event will be held from 10am until 2pm at the museum which is located along Piers 6 and 7 in the InnerHarbor east.
This one of a kind event not only showcases the many vehicles that provide services to the City of Baltimore, but also provides a fun opportunity for kids to see, feel and even climb on these fascinating vehicles. Kids will receive a complimentary hard hat when they participate in the “Truck Trail Game” which offers a chance to see and explore 22 super-sized trucks, boats, motorcycles, a hook and ladder truck and a Police helicopter, plus the horsepower of the Mounted Police Unit. Stops along the game will include performances by Maryland Public Television’s “Bob the Vid Tech”; a chance to test your strength and running speed; and an opportunity to make recycled arts and crafts projects. The museum’s popular “18-Wheels-of-Steel” truck driving simulator will also be on display. Kids will be able to actually drive the simulator and receive a special laminated “driver’s license” by participating in the “WayCoolDivingSchool.”
Big Truck Day highlights just some of the many vehicles that provide services to the City of Baltimore. Display vehicles are from the Public Works, Transportation, Police and Fire Departments in conjunction with the Department of General Services.
The Baltimore Public Works Museum is located in the architecturally stunning, historic and still fully functioning Eastern Avenue Pumping Station, circa 1912.
